To What Extent Does Trade Help Reduce Development Disparities

What exactly degree does exchange help decrease advancement abberations? The Republic of Malawi in the southeast of Africa is a landlocked nation wherein 85% of the individuals are utilized in agribusiness. About 90% of all ranchers are smallholder ranchers that experience the ill effects of low pay and immature methods. This is only one case of immature nations everywhere throughout the world. The inquiry is basic: How can these LEDCs create? One methodology of diminishing improvement inconsistencies is the mean of exchange †the matter of purchasing and selling wares either inside a nation or between a few countries.Several nations have just started procedures to help LEDCs create. China for models urges Chinese firmst to put resources into more unfortunate countries and opens ist own business sectors to imports from immature nations. This worldwide remote speculation is an extraordinary chance to make improvement open doors for LEDCs, particularly in light of the fact that Chi na itself has quite recently had an outrageous budgetary ascent with the goal that it can help other people now. Notwithstanding, pundits may believe that China †by opening up its business sectors †rather observes its own advantage, as it makes sure about crude materials and markets for Chinese made goods.Furthermore, China gets more extravagant and its worldwide significance raises radically. Specialists anticipate that it should surpass Japan’s economy soon. Altogether different to this somewhat uncalled for approach of decreasing advancement incongruities because of exchange is set up by the FAIRTRADE establishment. This advancement association helps nations in the creating scene to improve a few unique perspectives, for example, feasible costs for items that never fall under the market cost, tolerable working conditions or reasonable terms of trade. To accomplish this, particular FAIRTRADE affirmation and item naming was created called the FAIRTRADE mark †an independet shopper name. Things like the FAIRTRADE least value, which implies that a purchaser needs to address a specific cost that is reasonable for the maker or FAIRTRADE premium, which implies that the cash payed on the base prize is spent on social, ecological and financial advancement ventures. Neither professing to help nor truly making a decent attempt to support LEDC’s economy, he three countries USA, Canada and Mexico conceded to the „North American Free Trade Agreement which was set up in January 1994. The „Theory of Comparative Advantageâ€Å" shows the goal of this relationship of countries: As they were all financially tested by western Europe and Asia and as the culmination of inner market of the EU hurt their economy, clearly with a disposal of exchange hindrances because of the NAFTA, these nations would all profit by it in their monetary situation. The point the NAFTA is to wipe out exchange obstructions, advance monetary rivalry, increment spec ulation openings and improve participation between the USA, Canada and Mexico. Acualizing these points will impactsly affect the world’s economy. One model along these lines ist he potential pay and benefir decrease in the US due to Mexico’s participation. Additionally, Mexico would need to embrace higher outside principles and poor Mexican ranchers have now to contend with huge scope, cutting edge US-or Canadian ranchers. These are only a few instances of the effect that the unhindered commerce bargain has on its members.Although facilitated commerce troughout countries appears to be promising, it unmistakably has its shortcomings too. Finishing up, the NAFTA has a decent methodology which anyway isn't helping LEDCs grow further and rather makes it hard for †for this situation †Mexico to stay aware of its accomplice exchanging countries USA and Canada. Governments from created nations attempt to make LEDCs help themselves by inquiring about and setting up di fferent associations so as to make exchange simpler. One case of this alleged „top-down approachâ€Å" is given to ranchers in Malawi. The point of government-drove ventures is to permit african ranchers acting naturally adequate and build up their own business with enough pay. A nut rancher in Malawi is presently †because of the help of the British government †ready to offer his peanuts to large oversea markets. As it is hard for little ranchers to get to those huge markets, purchasing focuses were work by the remote government so as to permit the ranchers simpler access. A few ranchers at that point utilize their salary to open ledgers, start new organizations and put their kids through optional school. In this procedure, they break out of the „vicious circleâ€Å" of destitution. Pundits despite everything see issues in this administration drove approach as ranchers are not concious about being served as it were. In the undertaking of for instance Malawi, th e British government gets profoundly engaged with the economy of a nation which frequently is seen from a negative edge by the populace as they might want to deal with their financial structures all alone. Nonetheless, this „bottom-upâ€Å" way to deal with less monetarily created nations by its own populace is remaining in extraordinary differentiation to the administration drove approach. As certain individuals of the nation would need to assemble its kin and because of absence of money related help, regularly abdication by as far as possible the advancement of a nation. A few totally different methodologies towards lessening improvement variations were made by governments and establishments. These can be handily differentiated: They are either started by a nation or country to remove the nations benefits out of exchange or so as to help and bolster another nation in its improvement by giving guide to it †this administration lead approach is called „top-down ".The difference to this methodology is called „bottom-upâ€Å" and is lead by a countries‘ own populace which is a somewhat troublesome procedure. By and large, exchange is an excellent method of connecting a nation’s economy, as for the most part contracts between nations are built up with the goal that the two gatherings profit by the business. This implies LEDCs can create and change their status to MEDCs. Notwithstanding, all things considered in the idea of the human species to consistently be ideal and driving, LEDCs must be exceptionally mindful not to get exploitet by monetarily amazing countries, for example, China.

American Welfare System

American government assistance framework is an oversight plan that offers reserves, social insurance, food, cover, and different things that residents need in order to remain alive. Individuals who can get help from these government assistance programs are kids, seniors, the impaired, and other people who are not able to support their nuclear family on their contemporary income. The government assistance arrangement of America has set off from a good natured program expected to support occupants who are unfit to work and manage the cost of for their youngsters, to a program that has develop to be productive to annulling the constant reliance of the beneficiaries. The American prosperity structure will: ? help more government assistance beneficiaries achieve self-rule through work ? take care of kids and sustain families ? permit states to ask about new and unique answers for help government assistance beneficiaries get autonomy Collapse of the System It must be comprehend that the Ame rican government assistance framework, as we observe it, should be constant over an all-inclusive timeframe; however lamentably this framework was inadequate to do as such. American government assistance framework was neglected to accomplish its destinations and in giving soothe to standard people.Yet the individuals who are â€Å"pro-welfare† are disappointed with the component in detachment. A few issues that contribute their part in the breakdown of the U. S. government assistance framework: Administrative Overheads: The regulatory costs of all the diverse government assistance programs are absolutely taking off. It is exorbitant to evaluate cases, oversee common administrations, designate advantages, watch beneficiaries, charge extortion, sue differences, and look at execution. Inadequate Coverage: Numerous individuals who are qualified for benefits neglect to acquire them since they either don't have any significant bearing or are incredibly rejected.Even now more indivi duals are truly denied, however don't appropriate on the grounds that they don't fall into a suitable class. Multifaceted nature: The administration of government assistance is exceptionally tangled. There are a considerable number of activities. The key projects wander by state; nearby freedom differs by region. There are precisely a large number of extraordinary government assistance programs in the United States, covering the land like a frayed composition blanket. The specialized guidelines of the pivotal projects are debilitating. AFDC is multifaceted to such an extent that authorities go to audit sheets to decide donations. The parameters are too complex to even consider comprehending (Bernstein and Greenberg, pp. 11-13). In spite of the previously mentioned situations, there are further issues which were establishments for the breakdowns of the American government assistance framework are: ? Ineffectual to keep individuals past the destitution line ? Error state guideline ? In accessibility of occupations for government assistance beneficiaries in the private zone ? Beneficiaries have necessities that enlarge past pay maintaining ? Too little favorable circumstances Proposals for Improving the SystemIt is the ideal opportunity for government assistance framework to actualize strategies that will build quick and perceptible turn of events. Projects ought to be defined to adapt to individuals cut off or on prosperity. The difficulty of an extraordinary number of brood being naturally introduced to destitution must be consolidated to diminish the quantity of individuals requiring government assistance. States weak to find employments for government assistance beneficiaries in the private district must be constrained to create network administration occupations and such to help the unwaged (Bernstein and Greenberg, p. 14).The American government assistance framework will improve in the event that it executes the accompanying recommendations: Create all inclus ive access to medicinal services, set up a widespread maternal and kid wellbeing program, update the conditions for qualification, make arrangements for sub-populaces, grow monetary proficiency bolster the family, bolster the general public, give more noteworthy social other option and reduce more prominent inertness protection. News and New Releases from Trans Authors vol. 3

News and New Releases from Trans Authors vol. 3 After weeks of working on this post between other jobs, the unpaid time-consuming commitments of living, and preparing for my academic year to start, I feel as though I’m drowning in a sea of trans writers. My brain has an ever present ticker feed of publications, dates, names, titles, websites, thinkpieces, tweets, essays, poems, chapbooks, ISBNs, gossip, and hot-takes that continues to scroll through my thoughts as I get groceries, go for runs, do my laundry, even when I entertained a new friend I met on Grindr. This is not a problem that I was expecting when I first brought up the idea of doing a news roundup on trans authors. I thought I would be struggling to find enough tidbits to justify putting up a post on Book Riot. Now I’m struggling to stay on top of everything that trans writers are up to. At a point in the deluge I had a single, bitter thought, “What are people talking about when they say they can’t find work by trans writers?” From my vantage point it was impossible for me to imagine someone being able to NOT find something by a trans person. Hell, I was getting physically exhausted just trying to keep track of all the new and upcoming publications. It wasn’t until I took a step back (and probably drank a bourbon for my nerves) that everything started to make sense. It wasn’t that I was drowning in a sea of new projects from writers, I was drowning in the amount of effort required to just find them. The process that I’ve developed over the last year of actively being interested in what trans writers are doing is one that involves sorting through a variety of sources including (but not limited to) hashtags, twitter lists, tumblrs, small press’ websites, lists of upcoming publications, blogs that were started in 2015 but somehow look like they were designed in the late ‘90s, Google alerts, alternative lit reviews, Goodreads lists, and word of mouth from the networks of friends that I’ve cultivated. With the exception of the “10 Books by Trans Authors” lists (Which are almost always nine white authors and then Janet Mock, who is beloved by me but is apparently also the only trans writer of color, let alone Black trans writer, that anyone knows) that come up when you Google “trans authors,” there are few places where you can find collected info on what trans writers are putting out. While I still raise an eyebrow to cis readers who just simply can’t find anything w ritten by actual trans people, I am reminded that it’s fucking hard as hell to find writing from trans authors. I’m lucky that I can write-off hours of internet sleuthing as part of a part-time writing gig but even then I’m very aware that there is so much out there that I’ve missed. At a certain point even my type-A personality has to step back and admit that I will only be able to capture a small section of what various writers are up to. There are definitely books and authors that I’ve wanted to put into this post but have had to let slip through my fingers because I simply didn’t have the time or energy. In an effort to pushback against the glaring whiteness of most conversations about trans authors, I tried to prioritize my limited energy on including work by authors of color and spent less energy on remembering work by white authors. Please recommend anything that I’ve had to leave out of this post. If you have any favorite reviewers, groups, zines, websites, whatever, talking about writing by other trans people, please share them as well. I don’t like the idea of a single publication/group dominating the conversation but would love for people to find connections to communities of trans writers that they didn’t know existed. bits and pieces from the web + “The Trans Women Writers Collective exists, above all, to improve conditions for the most marginalized writers in our community: black trans women, Indigenous trans women, disabled trans women, incarcerated and detained and undocumented trans women.” Ellyn Peña (An Anthology of Fiction By Trans Women of Color), Jamie Berrout  (An Anthology of Fiction  By Trans Women of Color,  Incomplete Short Stories And Essays, and more), Venus Selenite  (trigger), and Celeste, have come together to form a new publishing organization exclusively for the writing of trans women. The organizations mission statement and the founders previous work has me all excited to see what will come out of this. Theyre currently accepting submission for an expanded print edition of An Anthology of Fiction By Trans Women of Color. + Throughout the summer EOAGH, a site/publication/group focused on publishing contemporary literature involved with trans, female, feminist, and queer identities and themes, has been publishing poems by trans poets up on their site. The last few months they’ve published Phoenix Nastasha Russell, Eero Talo, Audrey Zee Whitesides, Colette Arrand, Kenyatta JP Garcia, Rose Sanchez, C. Russell Price, Kay Ulanday Barrett, Jai Arun Ravine, and Luis Lopez-Maldonado, among others. EOAGH is the publisher of kari edwards’ succubus in my pocket, 2016 Lambda Award Winner for Transgender Poetry, and will be putting out a special online issue of their arts journal entitled “Trans Women Across Genres, edited by Trace Peterson. + “Remember me as a revolutionary communist.” â€" Leslie Feinberg’s last words  Shortly before hir death in November of 2014, writer and activist Leslie Feinberg was able to regain rights to hir classic novel Stone Butch Blues and put out a special 20th anniversary edition that is available for free from hir website. The edition is dedicated to Cece McDonald, a Black trans woman who was serving a jail sentence for defending herself from a neo-Nazi during the time Feinberg was working this anniversary edition. + “[W]e do get a lot of submissions about folks’ childhoods which isâ€"I guess what I would describe as a trope of trans writing, but not necessarily a bad one or whatever. But I think that the pieces that really stood out to us from that were ones that really twisted that narrative and turned it on its head, or presented it in a new way.” â€" Kay Gabriel  The four editors of VETCH: A magazine of trans poetry and poetics (Kay Gabriel, Stephen Ira, Liam OBrien and Rylee Lyman) talked with Avren Keating, host of the trans poetry podcast Waves Breaking, about their experiences starting an independent poetry magazine. + “As far as publishing articles and reviewsâ€"I get some work, I get a lot of rejection. The bind, of course, is that sometimes it’s not entirely clear whether the rejections come because all writers face rejection or because they don’t like who you are or what you want to write about.” Casey Plett Shawn Syms of the Winnipeg Review sat down with a group of LGBTQ writers to talk about their experiences in Canadian Lit scene. Two trans women, Casey Plett (A Safe Girl To Love)  and Vivek Shraya (God Loves Hair, She of the Mountains), were among those interviewed. + Dr. Colt Keo-Meier, a child psychologist, is fundraising on Indiegogo to produce and market a picture book about a trans child. Written by Dr. Keo-Meier and two other trans men, the book aims to open conversations about the gender binary with kids through the story of Stacey, a character who doesnt feel comfortable in male or female identities. + “Small Beauty plays with, subverts, and inverts literary and pop-culture expectations of Asian women; for example, by making Mei not a paper cut-out victim of oppression (unlike, say, the transgender Chinese narrator of Kim Fu’s novel For Today I Am A Boy) but rather a gutsy, down-to-earth heroine who kneecaps a would-be street harasser with a brick hidden in her purse.” At Autostraddle Kai Cheng wrote a deeply personal and powerful review of Jia Wilson-Yang’s Small Beauty  that drew from her own experiences as an Asian-Canadian trans woman reading a novel by an Asian-Canadian trans woman. The review is intertwined with Wilson-Yang’s own words from an interview with Autostraddle. (Casey Plett also wrote a glowing review of Small Beauty  for The Winnipeg Review.) + Back at the end of May Oliver Baez Bendorf and Gabrielle Bellot organized a Twitter discussion around the hashtag translit. For those of us who missed out on this conversation Bendorf put a collection of tweets together on Storify. + “One time, I think the first time I went to this library, I was going through the stacks looking for ‘my friends’ (i.e., books written by my friends) when a teenage trans girl came up to me. She asked me if I was ‘a tâ€"“; I said yes; she asked me if I had any advice on stuffing bras, because tissue paper wasn’t cutting it for her. I didn’t have good advice on this immediately, and she got nervous about something and walked away giggling, and I still don’t know what it was, and I still have never seen her there again.”  Author Jeanne Thornton (The Dream of Doctor Bantam  and  The Black  Emerald) wrote the July edition of The Banal and the Profane, a monthly column from Lambda Literary where a person in the book industry chronicles a week in their life. + “The problem at hand is thus one of canonization: my concern isn’t with Nevada  but rather its contemporary reception three years down the road from its pub date. It’s been burdened with a mythos it can’t sustain, no book can: the novel that kicked off the trans literary ‘renaissance’ of the 2010’s, the novel that articulated and brought into being a broad-scale sophistication of trans literature by invoking trans readers as its audience.”  A lot of interesting work came out of The Workshop, a recent writing workshop exclusively for trans women, but Id like to highlight Kay Gabriels essay which takes a critical look at contemporary (and arguably dominate) narratives of trans lit and the impact of canonizing texts. Besides being an interesting analysis, this essay stands out to me in the way Gabriel offers a historical context to her look at modern trans lit. [Gabriel is also the author of an examination of Canadian poet Trish Salahs Lyric Sexology Vol. 1  which is f orthcoming from  the Trans Studies Quarterly: “Untranslating Gender in Trish Salah’s Lyric Sexology Vol. 1] + “I wanted to get into the headspace of a trans woman who wasn’t defined by being trans the way I still feel defined by being trans. Because like, the point with Kim Q’s transness is that it’s just a part of her.” For Autostraddles Drawn to Comics Mey Rude interviewed Magdelene Visaggio about KIM KIM, her new comic book with a trans woman as half of the titular duo. + The literary focused Matrix Magazine just put out an issue built around the work of trans writers edited by Lucas Crawford. + “I work with a lot of devalued pop cultural texts. These texts have often been devalued because they’re associated with girls and/or womenâ€"as audiences and as protagonists. When I work with these kinds of texts, I not only ‘queer’ my work, but I think that I ‘trans’ it too, drawing on my own feminised history.”  Christopher Evans interviewed writer Tom Cho (Look Whos Morphing) about his previous work, his upcoming novel, and becoming a Canadian citizen. recent releases + FOUND THEM  by Francisco Luis White  (self-published): Debut poetry chapbook that focuses on ways of survival and the “ancestral magic as an omnipresent resource.” + INCOMPLETE SHORT STORIES ZINE by Jamie Berrout  (self-published): Combining fiction previously published in Berrout’s Incomplete Short Stories and Essays  with never before seen stories with a focus on speculative fiction. This purchase includes a hand bound copy and a PDF copy, and discounts are available for trans women. + REACQUAINTED WITH LIFE  by KOKUM? (Heliotrope): This magnificent, boiling text is the first time KOKUM?’s poetry has been published on its own. I staggered my way through reading it, finding myself bound by her masterful storytelling as the waves of her words broke against me, leaving me breathless and in awe. This is the first of three books upcoming from Topside Press’ poetry imprint and it is a forceful opening salvo. + TO STAY HUMAN ONCE MORE by Esdras Parra (trans. By Jamie Berrout) (self-published): Parra’s book of poetry, originally published in 1995 and never before translated into English, is just one piece of her larger body of literature that spans genres and forms. Berrout’s translation brings the life of this influential Venezuelan activist to an audience whose interest in trans writers is dominated by white European and North American voices. A physical chapbook  is also available. Trans women and amab nonbinary people are able to get the ebook for free and the chapbook at a discounted rate. + AN ALPHABET OF EMBERS: AN ANTHOLOGY OF UNCLASSIFIABLES  edited by Rose Lemberg (Marginalia to Stone Bird) and Nin Harris (Stone Bird Press): An anthology of pieces whose nature renders them unclassifiable by comfortable labels of poetry or prose. + a nt by Elijah Pearson (Bottlecap Press): Poetry chapbook from the co-founder / editor of spy kids review. + THERE SHOULD BE FLOWERS  by Joshua Jennifer Espinoza (Im Alive / It Hurts / I Love it) (Civil Coping Mechanisms): Espinoza’s second collection of her poems is beautiful, deadly, and deceptive in its quiet structure. + WHEN THE CHANT COMES: Poems 2003-2016 by Kay Ulanday Barrett  (Heliotrope): Barrett has established himself as a respected and popular poet whose spoken word performances meet art and activism. IFYFALO is available as a limited edition paperback and as a pay-what-you-will ebook. upcoming releases + Ching-In Chen  (The Hearts Traffic) will be publishing a book of poetry entitled recombinant  with Kelsey Street Press. (expected publication in 2016) + The final of Heliotrope’s three poetry books of 2016 is their own Cat Fitzpatrick’s Glamourpuss.  These autobiographical poems are explorations not just of her past mistakes but of traditional forms of English poetry. Her measured lines come together with reckless memories of wild dancing and sobbing phone calls. (expected publication October 4, 2016, Topside Press) + Following fellow Big Fancy Schmancy Publishing Houses Scholastic and MacMillon’s Flatiron Books’ successes with George  (Alex Gino) and If I Was Your Girl  (Meredith Russo), respectively, Simon Schuster’s Atria Books will be publishing a trans book that’s written by a, you know, actual trans person. Bad Boy  by Elliot Wake (Black Iris, Unteachable, Cam Girl) introduces us to Renard Grant, a vlogger by day and a vigilante by night. (expected publication December 6, 2016) + “It was only when I began reading works by poets of colour that this anxiety began to lift. I realized that poetry itself wasn’t the barrier, but rather the whiteness of it: most of the poetry I had been exposed to was by white authors.” â€" Vivek Shraya writing at Quill and Quiz about her experience writing her debut book of poetry: even this page is white. I mentioned her new book  in the last “news and new releases from trans authors” but honestly I don’t feel bad reminding you that it’s coming out so soon. (expected publication September 13, 2016, Arsenal Press)

How Does And Probability Make You Win Money On Blackjack...

The research question for this internal assessment is: How does and probability make you win money on Blackjack? Blackjack is the most common gambling game at casinos around the world. The aim of this game is to get as close to 21 without going over. You play against the dealer. Therefore, as in many other casino games, probability has to be taken in consideration to be aware of the possible outcomes in regard to cards and money. In the moment of truth, many players tend to hesitate, speculate and guess in their pursuit of winning each hand. Nevertheless, mathematics may serve as a crucial tool to know what to do on each move. Throughout examining the probability at each outcome and at each circumstance, players have the ability to actually gain a higher profit after a night-out in a casino. This can also be seen from a different point of view. Probability is defined as â€Å"the extent to which an event is likely to occur, measured by the ratio of the favorable cases to the whole n umber of cases possible.† Consequently, probability will not always win you hands when playing Blackjack since after all, outcomes may not follow what probability indicates since it’s not 100% accurate. Albinism is a genetic anomaly characterized by little or no pigment in their eyes, skin, or hair.   Not specific to race or ethnicity, it can affect African-Americans, Hispanics, and Asians as much as it does whites. More exactly, albinism is an autosomal recessive trait where melanocytes have diminished or restricted ability to produce melanin—the substance responsible for skin, hair and eye color. We will write a custom essay sample on Types and Symptoms or any similar topic only for you Order Now Phenotypically, albinism is relatively rare: one person in 17,000 in the U.S.A. is affected. In fact, most children with albinism are born to parents with normal hair and eye color. In some Scandinavian countries, however, it is difficult to tell if a child has albinism because fair hair and eyes are the norm.   A common myth is that by definition people with albinism have red eyes. In fact there are different types of albinism, and the amount of pigment in the eyes varies. The National Organization for Albinism and Hypopigmentation dispels many myths and legends in popular culture, â€Å"Although some individuals with albinism have reddish or violet eyes, most have blue eyes. Some have hazel or brown eyes. People with albinism always have problems with vision, and many have low vision. Many are â€Å"legally blind,† but most use their vision for reading, and do not use braille. Some have vision good enough to drive a car.   Vision problems in albinism result from abnormal development of the retina and abnormal patterns of nerve connections between the eye and the brain. It is the presence of these eye problems that defines the diagnosis of albinism. Therefore the main test for albinism is simply an eye exam.   While most people with albinism have very light skin and hair, not all do. Oculocutaneous albinism involves the eyes, hair, and skin. Ocular albinism involves primarily the eyes, while skin and hair may appear similar or slightly lighter than that of other family members. Over the years researchers have used various systems for classifying oculocutaneous albinism. In general, these systems contrasted types of albinism having almost no pigmentation with types having slight pigmentation. In less pigmented types of albinism, hair and skin are cream-colored, and vision is often in the range of 20/200. In types with slight pigmentation, hair appears more yellow or red-tinged, and vision often corrects to 20/60. Early descriptions of albinism called these main categories of albinism â€Å"complete† and â€Å"incomplete† albinism. Later researchers used a test that involved plucking a hair root, and seeing if it would make pigment in a test tube. This test separated â€Å"ty-neg† (no pigment) from â€Å"ty-pos† (some pigment). The Garden of Science Essays - Bereshit, Adam And Eve,

The Garden of Science In the beginning, there was nothing. According to the Book of Genesis, God created everything from scratch. God created the heavens, earth, light, darkness, sea, stars, birds, and animals. God created a man and named him Adam. God created a woman and named her Eve. Adam and Eve were put in the Garden of Eden. The Garden of Eden was filled with fruit trees, animals, and there were river flowing all the time. In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve had plenty to eat. They did not have to work nor make money. Adam and Eve were naked but they were shameless. Adam and Eve did not have much to worry about. In the year 2001, we are living in the garden that is embedded with various scientific stuffs. Lets just take a look at my life. Few years ago, I used the typewriter to write papers. Now, I am using a computer to write the paper. In the morning, the alarm clock wakes me up. I turn on the faucet to get water to brush my teeth. I pour out already brewed coffee from programmed coffee maker. I drive a car to get to the places. I wash my cloth in washing machine and dry them in the dryer. I dont wear eyeglasses anymore because I am wearing contact lenses. Furthermore, this winter break, I am planning to have Lasik operation to correct my vision permanently. Then, I could say goodbye to my contact lenses. This is the sketch of my life, but just a part. I am living in the garden with full of scientific devices that I could no longer live without. Wow. How did we get here from the Garden of Eden to the Garden of Science? What makes the world to become such a science oriented society? What drives human beings to seek scientific knowledge of the world? Since I am a Christian who confidently believes in Gods creation of the world according to the Bible. I believe that it is a natural characteristic of the human being to seek more knowledge. The desire for more knowledge actually evolved into creating the technologies that became part of our lives. In addition, I believe that the knowledge itself is actually given by God along with the power to use them. Finally, I believe that knowledge is a good thing to posses, however; we need to be more careful and humble of using the knowledge that was given to us by our creator as a gift. When God gave the Garden of Eden to Adam and Eve. He said, You may freely eat of every tree of the garden; but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall die (Holy Bible, New Revised Standard Version, Gen. 1.16-17). Adam and Eve knew the rules and consequences. However, they ate the forbidden fruit. Why would they do such a thing when they knew the consequence, which is the death? Adam blamed Eve, The woman whom you gave to be with me, she gave me fruit from the tree, and I ate (Holy Bible, New Revises Standard Version, Gen. 3.12). Eve blamed serpent, The serpent tricked me, and I ate (Holy Bible, New Revised Standard Version, Gen. 3.13). These are not very convincing. I dont think that anyone would jeopardize his or her life so easily, without any question. Furthermore, it is not that Adam and Eve didnt have anything to eat. I believe that there must have been a strong force that drove Adam and Eve to take the forbidd en fruit. I believe it is the natural characteristic of human beings for wanting to obtain more knowledge. Why else would Adam and Eve take that forbidden fruit? They had everything they needed in the Garden of Eden. Yes, the serpent lied to Adam and Eve that they will not die by eating the forbidden fruit. The fact that Adam and Eve believed serpent over their creator God shows their strong desire of wanting to eat the forbidden fruit. Adam and Eve desired to have more knowledge (by eating

Rennaisance vs. Rap essays

Rennaisance vs. Rap essays In the latter part of the 15th century, there began a cultural revolution known as the Renaissance. This artistic rebirth changed the way people lived and thought for the next century and a half. In the last decades of the 20th century, a new voice in music has arisen. This voice called Rap represents the cries that emanate from the urban areas of Western civilization. Superficially, no comparisons can be drawn between Rap music and the Renaissance but if there is an understanding of the cultural impact that each ascertained then the connection is clear. The Renaissance began as a rebellion against the medieval church. The church during the middle ages controlled every aspect of the people under its jurisdiction. All forms of art, from painting to music, were evaluated using the churchs standards of acceptability. Therefore, if the church did not agree, it was prohibited. In an effort to escape this lack of creativity an explosion of artistic imagination occurred. Secular music was no longer look upon as damned. Courts often had two sets of musicians. That way if the occasion called for holy music and secular music the feat could be achieved. This creative overflow caused the production of more music that ever before. And with the advent of the printing press, music was now distributed by the masses. The impact of the Renaissance was tremendous in making new boundaries and advancing music as a whole. In the late1970s, Rap was making its first strides in becoming a major music power in America. Coming from humble beginnings, it has evolved over the last two decades into a domination force in this culture. At its early stages, Rap was confined to exclusively to African Americans but that too has changed. By the 21st century a substantial percentage of listeners of Rap are not black. Due to its nature and content Rap has been heavily criticized by politi ...

The Murder of Taylor Behl

The Murder of Taylor Behl What Happened to Taylor Behl? Taylor Behl, a 17-year-old freshman at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, left her dormitory room Sept. 5, 2005 to give her roommate some privacy with her boyfriend. She took with her a cell phone, some cash, a student ID and her car keys. She was never seen alive again. Two weeks later, her 1997 Ford Escort was found a mile and a half from the VCU campus with stolen Ohio license plates. Her body was found in an indentation in the ground 75 miles east of Richmond on Oct. 7. Taylor Marie Behls Childhood Years Taylor Behl was born on October 13, 1987 to Matt and Janet Behl (now Janet Pelasara). By age five, Taylors parents were divorced, and Janet was remarried to a Royal Air Force officer. She and her new husband and Taylor lived in England and Belgium. Taylor became a seasoned airline passenger before the age of six, making unescorted international trips between Europe and the U.S. By the age of 11, Taylors mother was divorced again and the two returned to northern Virginia. Pretty, Popular and Savvy Taylor Behl was pretty, popular and had an air of well-traveled sophistication. She had attended 15 different schools abroad by the age of 17 when she graduated from Madison High School in the well-off Washington, D.C., bedroom community of Vienna, Virginia. She carried the outward appearance of having developed a savvy independence that would prepare her for her next life adventure of attending her first year of college at the Richmond, Virginia based Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). Janet Pelasara said Taylor selected VCU because of the diversity she would find at the college with its 30,000 students. It seemed like a safe choice, located only one and a half hours away from both her mother and father. In August 2005, at age 17, Taylor Behl packed up her belongings, as did thousands of other college-bound students, and headed to her new home at Gladdings Residence dorm on West Main St. in Richmond, Virginia. Taylors Internet Personality - Bitter One important aspect of Taylor Behls life was her participation on Myspace.com. The website is designed so individuals can create profiles for themselves and interact with others in a social-type environment. On Taylor Behls profile she created during the summer of 2005, she used the name Bitter and posted: I just graduated from high school and now Im off to Richmond for college. Im looking forward to meeting people that are in Richmond because I only know a few people down there. Later in her profile she added, Who would I like to meet? Someone who is kind. Taylor posted regularly on the site and continued to do so while at VCU. Taylor Meets Ben Fawley Unknown to Taylors parents, Taylor met a man in Feb. 2005, while touring VCU as a prospective student. He was Ben Fawley, a 38-year-old amateur photographer who had a history of dating young college girls. It is believed that Taylor and Fawley developed an online friendship after meeting and the relationship became sexual at some point. There are conflicting reports concerning when or if Taylor ended the physical relationship, but when she arrived at VCU, their friendship continued. Taylor Vanishes On Sept. 5, Taylor returned to Richmond after visiting her family in Vienna over the holiday weekend. She called her parents to let them know she made it back to VCU safely. She then had dinner at The Village Cafe with an old boyfriend. Afterwards, Taylor returned to her dorm room, but left to give her roommate and her boyfriend privacy. With her car keys, cell phone, student ID and a little cash, she told her roommate she was going skateboarding and would be back in three hours. Timeline: Taylor Behl was never seen alive again. It was not until Sept. 7, that Taylors roommate made a missing persons report to the VCU campus police. On Sept. 15, the Richmond Police took over and an 11-member task force, including FBI agents, was formed to help find the missing student. Sept. 17, 2005:  Taylors car, a 1997 white Ford Escort, was found locked and parked on a quiet neighborhood street almost a mile and a half from campus. The license plates had been switched to Ohio plates that had been reported stolen in Richmond two months earlier. Neighbors in the area told police the car had not been there the entire time Taylor was missing. A K-9 dog picked up two distinct scents in the car. One belonged to Taylor and the other to 22-year-old Jesse Schultz. During police questioning, Schultz denied knowing Taylor and denied ever being in her car. He was arrested on drug possession after police discovered drugs during a search of his home. On Sept. 21, 2005:  Police reported that 38-year-old, Ben Fawley was one of the last known people to see Taylor alive. Fawley told police that Taylor had come over to borrow a skateboard and he walked her back to her dorm around 9:30 p.m. During a police search of his home, police discovered child pornography and he was arrested on 16 child pornography charges. Fawley, a father of two girls, was arraigned and ordered to remain in jail with no bond. On October 5, 2005: Fawleys ex-girlfriend led police to a house in a photograph displayed on one of Fawleys Internet web sites. The location was an old farm located on her parents property. The police searched the remote Mathews County farm and discovered the decomposed body of Taylor Behl laying in an indentation in the ground. Taylor Behl was buried on October 14, a day after she would have turned 18. Ben Fawley Convicted of Second-Degree Murder In February, 2006 Ben Fawley was charged with second-degree murder of Taylor Behl.  In August he was sentenced to 30 years in prison after entering an Alford plea in the case, which means he did not admit guilt, but accepted the fact that prosecutors had enough evidence to convict him of the crime.

Henry Ford Speech or Presentation Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Henry Ford - Speech or Presentation Example Still, Henry had been a courageous fellow with an ambition to improve his conditions and standard of life. From very early age, he joined a small workshop with an inclination to learn and change his lifestyle. Undoubtedly, he had innate interest towards machines, tools and equipments, which induced him to progress in the field of engineering and automobiles. With the passage of time, Henry gained experience and became an engineer of Edison Illuminating Company in Detroit. For instance, he continued his progress in life and promoted to the post of Chief Engineer in 1890s that helped him in maximise his savings due to relatively higher income at his respective key post (Wiley Report, n.d). Henry Ford, with innovative ideas always flowing into his mind, attributed his success to efforts of wife who made him belief about his potential, skills, knowledge and expertise. Henry also established his own firm in early 1890s in collaboration with some investors, which however failed due to some internal deficiencies. Nevertheless, Henry did not quit his job as he was well settled at that time. As mentioned earlier, Ford had natural desire towards machines so he made some experiments of gasoline combustion engines to check their viability, business scope and potential. Finally, the experiments resulted in invention of his first self-propelled four wheeler (of wires) vehicle named Quadricycle. The vehicle was not considered as a huge success as it did not have any gasoline engine unlike gasoline vehicles offered by other manufacturers in the marketplace at that time. Nonetheless, Henry had gained confidence and headed to formation of Ford Motors in 1903, which in later years produced low priced, safe and fuel - efficient automobiles that won the trust of consumers. Indeed, that was the beginning of phenomenal success. Then, the comprehensive launch of consumer – friendly, durable, secure and reliable T-model by Ford Motors triggered its massive growth, and within 15 years Ford Motors had received nationwide consumer acceptance and became a household name. The success of Ford could be easily measured by highlighting the fact that over 55% of total automobile sales across USA were of Ford’s T-model (HFMGV Report, 2003). Ford, then, introduced new quality standards, changed its mission, vision and values so that it could enhance its growth rate and could accomplish its goal of becoming a truly global organization. For instance, the automobile producer emphasized the adoption of modern production techniques, induction of assembly lines, specialized workers, mass production facilities (economies of scale), research and development, product / process innovation, advertising and branding. Indeed, the aforementioned enabled the producer in not only enhancing its sales and profitability in core US markets but also expanding in markets worldwide. Ford has changed the industry dynamics through introduction of safe, reliable, fuel – efficient , uniquely designed and premium quality vehicles for normal and commercial use. The consumers have inclination towards acquiring a Ford automobile as it maximizes their utility (due to need fulfillment) and ensures that they are being valued. In conclusion, the customers adore that the benefits they receive from purchase decision are stupendously greater than monetary costs incurred during

Euthanasia and Christian Beliefs Essay -- Euthanasia Mercy Death Healt

Euthanasia Euthanasia is defined in the Chamber’s English Dictionary as â€Å" the act or practice of putting someone painlessly, or as gently as possible, to death†. There are various forms of Euthanasia, which I must explain before referring to the teachings of the different Christian denominations. The most common of them is Voluntary Euthanasia, where the patient decides for themselves, that they would prefer to be dead. They might decide at the time, or perhaps they might have written a ‘living will’ instructing doctors to kill them if they are ever in a situation where they will never be conscious again. There is also In-voluntary Euthanasia, were someone else decides against the patient’s wishes that would be better off dead, and enforces it in the act of killing them. Therefore it is often out-classed as Euthanasia, because it is not ‘gentle’. Non-voluntary Euthanasia takes place in a situation where the patient cannot be asked, or more correctly, cannot answer. This may be because the victim is a baby and can’t speak yet, or perhaps the victim is in a coma and is unable to respond to people around h im, but in this case a relative or doctor will decide for the person. It is also important to distinguish the difference between killing someone (Active), and letting them die (Passive). Killing a person is expressed in an action. An example of this, would be a doctor injecting his patient with a poison. Whereas letting someone die, is expressed in not performing an action. An example of this would be a doctor not supplying his patient with drugs that would save his life, and as a result the patient’s life is shortened. I will set, discuss, and finally evaluate a debate about Voluntary Euthanasia using contexts from both the Roman Catholic Church, and the Church of England. Some of the key influences I will refer to are Natural Law, Situation Ethics, Doctrine of Double Effect, The Golden Rule, Church documents, and the Bible. Ignoring all religious views, an argument for Voluntary Euthanasia performed by someone other than the patient, is that it is simply ‘mercy killing’. This would, under general Christian views, be just because it was an act of love, and after all that is what Christianity revolves around. One question, that must be answered is, ‘Is there a difference between killing and letting someone die, when it comes to an argu... ...f the family would suffer as a result of his death, then he should not die in an unnatural way. But, it is more likely that they will be suffering with him, and will feel the relief if he does not, and they do not have to watch him, live any longer in his painful condition. If this is the case, then they should back his feelings, and give him their support. It has been said that although the earth does not belong to the people, God did create humans to make their own decisions on it. Therefore in the case of voluntary euthanasia, there is no doubt that the end decision must be made by the patient, and not the doctor. If the patient is in a persistent vegetative state, then the appeal for his death, falls into the non-voluntary category, and is of no complication to my conclusion. As I have said already, the fifth commandment is addressing the point of murdering innocent people. Murder is when one person intentionally kills another without legal justification or excuse. If euthanasia was legalised, then it would not officially be murder. In such a case, a Christian would not be violating the fifth commandment, and there would be no reason why he could not be a supporter.

AS/RS and conveyors

Racks are â€Å"flow-through† racks In which the unit load Is stored from one side of the rack by a dedicated SIR machine, and Is retrieved by another machine from the pick did of the rack. 3. Monomial AS/RSI: is a system designed to handle small loads that are contained in bins or drawers in the storage system. A. Generally smaller than a unit load AS/RSI and is often enclosed for security of the items stored. B. Uses special SIR machines to retrieve and transport the bins to the P&D station at the end of the aisle in order to be able to withdraw individual items from the bin. C.P&D station is manually operated by a worker. D. The bin or drawer must then be returned to its location in the system. 4. Man-on-board AS/RSI: this system is dedicated for retrieving single items from outrage. A. Human worker drives a carriage of the SIR machine. B. Permits individual item that he picked directly at their storage locations. 5. Automated item retrieval system: a storage systems design ed for retrieval of individual items or small product cartons. A. Items are stored in lanes. B. In retrieval process item is pushed from its lane and dropped onto a conveyor for delivery to the pickup station. . The supply of items in each lane is periodically replenished, allowing first-in. First-out Inventory rotation 6. Vertical' lift storage modules (EVILS): These are also called vertical lift automated outrage/retrieval systems. A. Uses a center aisle or more. B. Capable of holding large Inventories while saving valuable floor space In the factory. Three application areas can be distinguished for automated storage/retrieval systems: 1 . Unit load storage and handling. Commonly found in: Warehousing for finished goods. Manufacturing facilities e. G. Deep-lane systems are mostly used in food industry. 2.Order picking. As order picking involves retrieving materials in less than full unit load quantities, monomial, man-an-board, and item retrieval systems are used for this applicat ion area. 3. Work-in-process storage systems. It's a new application recently developed of automated storage technology. The following ways are ways to manage unavoidable WIPE: a. Buffer storage in production. Used between two processes which production rates differ significantly. An in-process buffer is needed between these operations to temporarily store the output of the first process as the input for the second process. . Support of Just-in-time delivery. Just-in-time TIT) is a manufacturing strategy that follows the pull strategy in which parts required in production are received immediately prior they are needed in the plant. As this strategy is very risky in terms f stock outs that occurs due to late supplier deliveries, usually plants install automated storage systems as storage buffers for incoming materials. C. Kitting of parts for assembly. When an order is received, the required components are retrieved, collected into kits, and delivered to the production floor for asse mbly. . Compatible with automatic identification systems. Uses automatic identification devices; bar code readers which allows loads to be stored and retrieved without human interaction to identify the loads. E. Computer control and tracking of materials. Used to identify the location and tutus of work-in-process in the facility. F. Support of factory wide automation. Part 2: Prepare a report about manual and automated conveyors. CONVEYOR SYSTEMS Conveyors are used when material must be moved in relatively large quantities between specific locations over a fixed path.Conveyors divided into two basic categories: 1 . Powered conveyors The power mechanism is contained in the fixed path, using chains, belts, rotating rolls, or other devices to force loads along the path. They are usually used in automated material transport systems in manufacturing plants, warehouses, and distribution centers. 2. Non-powered conveyors. Tat or by using gravity from one height to a lower height. Types of Conveyors 1. Roller and Skate Wheel Conveyors. Roller conveyor: The pathway consists of a series of rollers that are perpendicular to the direction of travel. The fixed frame contains rollers that lifts the pathway above floor level from several inches to several feet. Flat pallets carrying unit loads are moved forward as the roller rotate. Applications: manufacturing, assembly, and packaging. Skate-wheel conveyors are similar to roller conveyors but skate wheels rotating on shaft connected to a frame to roll pallets along the path way instead of rollers. Applications of skate wheel conveyors are similar to those of roller conveyors, except that the loads must generally be lighter. 2.Belt Conveyors. Belt conveyors consist of a continuous loop: Half its length is used for delivering materials, and the other half is the return run. Belt conveyors are typically available in two types; Flat belts for pallets, individual parts, or even certain types of bulk materials; Thorough belts for b ulk materials. Conveyors Driven by Chains and Cables. Uses chains that forms endless loop on which loads are carried directly. The loop forms a straight line with a pulley at each end. This is usually in an over-and-under configuration. These conveyors are categorized as the following: 1. Chain: a. Used to transport heavy unit loads. B. Parallel chain configuration used to transport pallets. 2. Slat conveyor: a) Uses discretely spaced slats connected to a chain b) Unit being transported retains its position c) Orientation and placement of the load is controlled d) Used for heavy loads or loads that might damage a belt e) Bottling and canning plants use flat chain or slat conveyors because of wet conditions, temperature, and cleanliness requirements f) Tilt slat conveyor used for serration 3.In floor towline conveyors: . Uses towline to provide power to wheeled carriers such as trucks, dollies, or carts that move along the floor b. Used for fixed-path travel of carriers (each of which has variable path capabilities when disengaged from the towline) c. Towline can be located either overhead, flush with the floor, or in the floor a. Uses a series of trolleys supported from or within an overhead track b. Trolleys are equally spaced in a closed loop path and are suspended from a chain c.Carriers are used to carry multiple units of product d. Does not provide for accumulation e. Commonly used in processing, assembly, packaging, and storage operations 5. A power-and-free overhead trolley conveyor: a. Similar to trolley conveyor due to use of discretely spaced carriers transported by an overhead chain; however, the power-and-free conveyor uses two tracks: one powered and the other non-powered. B. Carriers can be disengaged from the power chain and accumulated or switched onto spurs c.Termed an Inverted Power-and- Free Conveyor when tracks are located on the floor 6. Cart-on-track conveyors: a. Used to transport carts along a track b. Carts are transported by a rotating tube c. Connected to each cart is a drive wheel that rests on the tube and that is used to array the speed of the cart (by varying the angle of contact between the drive wheel and the tube) d. Carts are independently controlled e. Accumulation can be achieved by maintaining the drive wheel parallel to the tube 7.Screw conveyors: a. Consists of a tube or U-shaped stationary trough through which a shaft-mounted helix revolves to push loose material forward in a horizontal or inclined direction b. One of the most widely used conveyors in the processing industry c. Many applications in agricultural and chemical processing 8. Vibration-based conveyors: a. Consists of a trough, bed, or tube b. Vibrates at a relatively high frequency and small amplitude in order to convey individual units of products or bulk material c.Can be used to convey almost all granular, free-flowing materials 9. Vertical lift conveyors: is a power-based conveyer that moves products automatically from one level to another. A. Carrier used to raise or lower a load to different levels of a facility (e. G. , different floors and/or mezzanines) b. Differs from a freight elevator in that it is not designed or certified to carry people c. Can be manually or automatically loaded and/or controlled and can interface with horizontal conveyors

The Importance Of Art Funding For Education Essay

The Importance of Art Funding According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, art is defined as â€Å"something that is created with imagination and skill and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings† (â€Å"Art†). With that being said, it is almost essential that art is maintained as a general course required for every student to take. While having art classes in schools available for students is important, it is also equally as important for the school funding for the art programs to be regulated throughout each district. By using a simple student to teacher ratio to determine how much money should be allotted to each teacher, this reoccurring problem could be solved for good. One of the main problems in the art program throughout the United States is the regulation of funding within the program. For example, while one teacher has one hundred students and another may have seventy, the teacher with seventy students gets a budget of five hundred dollars when the teacher with one hundred gets only three hundred and fifty. On top of that, not only is it unfair to the individual teachers, but it is also happening all over the United States to teachers in the same district. In an article about secondary art programs, it states that â€Å"the art teacher at School Number Two was operating with 78% of the funds as the teacher at School Number One. Because the two schools are within the same district, this is a difference that seemingly defies explanation† (Kraft 55).
